Shower Ministry

Offering Hospitality & Care to Members of our Community

St. Paul's has always been a place of active ministry. Our Shower Ministry and food outreach programs are open three days a week (see our calendar for the most up-to-date days and hours of operation), and we provide an additional location for emergency shelter during inclement weather. If you'd like to help us ensure these ministries are sustainable into the future, all donations are gratefully received.

The Shower Ministry offers hospitality and care to members of our community by providing access to showers, toiletries, towels, clean clothing resources, and a welcoming place to be seen and known. More than meeting a physical need, this ministry creates opportunities for connection, compassion, and
restoring a sense of dignity.

Items Needed:

This program is dependent on volunteers and contributions from the community.

Bottled water, men's and women's white crew-length socks, razors, combs, toothbrushes, and travel size toothpaste are always greatly appreciated.

Daytime Showers Available:

Sign in at the church office to pick up a towel, toiletries, socks and snack. The schedule for showers is as follows:

Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday: 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Friday: 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Volunteer with the Shower Ministry:

Volunteers work in teams to welcome guests, help with check-in, prepare towel bundles, refresh showers between guests, offer supplies and resources, and assist with opening or closing tasks.
Time Commitment: Serve as often as works for your schedule. Volunteer shifts are typically 2-4 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Sign up to serve regularly; or as a sub when regularly scheduled volunteers are unable due to illness, vacations, or other unexpected events. (We always need subs!)

We are looking for anyone with a welcoming spirit and a heart for hospitality to help us! This ministry isn't about staying busy every minute—it's about being present. There is little to no heavy-lifting, and plenty of downtime during each shift, making it accessible for volunteers with physical limitations or anyone looking to connect with both our church family and the wider community. Volunteer presence ensures this vital ministry remains available to those who rely on it.

It is also important to note that while volunteers occasionally need to hold a firm boundary with a guest, you are never expected to handle difficult situations alone. Church leadership is always in the building to provide support, and local law enforcement is highly responsive if assistance is ever needed.

Soup's On Tuesdays

The soup and bread ministry serves shower guests and others on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Founded by Deacon Paul Mallat, Soup's On Tuesdays provides generous and hearty servings of homemade soup and sides to shower guests and others who come to the hall at St. Paul’s.  Learn more about this ministry and how to help here.

THANK YOU

In 2025, we hosted 1,164 showers and provided 2,878 lunches through volunteer support. The Parish Hall was used to serve 50-60 meals per week hosted by churches of Healdsburg and Healdsburg Shared Ministry. Contact Kera Quintanilla, St. Paul's Volunteer Coordinator, to learn how you can help.
